I love Carroll.... but even more I always wanted to draw like John Tenniel more than anyone else in the world.

Well you seriously have great skill in that department! Is there no way of combining similar detail with the beautiful colour work you are doing now! You probably already have!! :eager:

You know, since I was a kid I have tried to copy Tenniels style (his drawings in the Alice series...not his Punch stuff) but it wasn't until the past few years that I came to the conclusion he based his drawing on photos. But the biggest charm of his Alice pieces is that he drew his creatures straight, or almost straight resisting the temptation to turn the animals into humorous cartoons creations.(Beatrix Potter and he shared this.).In the process, Carroll and Tenniel comming together to do those books, created the best children's book to date...with the exception possibly of the works of Beatrix Potter herself...

But after coming to DA I'm not so certain of this anymore...there are so many fantastic artists out on DA...some who even rival Tenniel and Potter. Sadly, I am not yet one of them... but I hope to change this... :boogie:

dA Is both a fearful and delightful place of artistic talent! Both encouraging and discouraging. There are indeed some amazingly gifted artists about here! I just have to be careful not to take in too much!

It can be overwhelming....trying to keep a sense of yourself while being in the middle of this artistic throng..
